The Veronika String Quartet performed their first concert of the season on Sunday, October 11, at the Sangre de Cristo Arts and Conference Center. In addition to performing Beethoven's String Quartet Op. 18, No. 1 and Shostakovich's String Quartet No. 3 in F Major, they also played Sun Threads, a new work by August Read Thomas. Dr. Claire Garcia, professor of Feminist and Gender Studies at Colorado College gave a brief

introductory lecture as part of the VSQ's focus this year on women composers in celebration of their 20th year as a quartet and ten years in Pueblo.
