New Brewmaster at the Shamrock
Jason Buehler has taken over for Alan Stiles (who moved to Phantom Canyon in Colorado Springs) as brewmaster at the Shamrock Brewing Company.  Most recently of Rockyard Brewing in Castle Rock, Buehler gave up a career in sales to focus full time on his passion for brewing.

While some of Stiles' recipes you've come to love over the last four and a half years-the Blond, Red, English Pale and Porter, for example-will be kept, Buehler plans to experiment with the specialty and seasonal offerings. Having gotten some "good experience at Rockyard with barrels," don't be surprised to see an occasional oak-aged beer from Buehler, as well. Buehler loves the collaborative spirit of brewers in Colorado, which, he says, makes all collaborators better, so it looks like Pueblo is slated to stay in the loop in brewing in Colorado, one of the top brewing states in the country, in both quality and diversity.

In the next few weeks, look for a Bock, a "Naked" Saison (brewed with Belgian yeasts and no additional flavors or spices), and maybe even a regularly available American-style IPA, now that, as Buehler say, "the cost of hops has let up a bit."  The new brewmaster is open to hearing what people would like to see on tap, so stop by the Shamrock for a pint, and speak up!

Extended Winter Hours at Solar Roast
Solar Roast Coffee will offer extended winter hours at least through the holidays, staying open until 4pm on Saturdays and opening on Sundays from 7:30am to 4pm. Plenty of gift ideas are also available, including chocolates, soaps, totes and stockings, all with a coffee twist.

Green Drinks
Green Drinks will meet at the Cock & Bull Tavern on Tuesday, December 29 at 5:30pm. Meet sustainable-minded people in an informal networking atmosphere. Cock and Bull, 325 S. Union. Burgers on 1st & Union
Richard Warner and Mary Oreskovich, chefs/owners of Hopscotch Bakery and the former Steel City Diner, are opening a new restaurant in December. The partners have completely renovated the former Quiznos building on 1st Street at Union to make space for Bingo Burger!

The restaurant will have quick counter service, a small menu featuring both classic and innovative choices in burgers, side dishes, and sweets to seal the deal. Coming soon: a small, well-chosen beer list.

Expect to see lunch and dinner, with possible later dinner hours, especially on the weekends, as well as outdoor seating in the warmer months.
