7 Days of Live Music
The question was posed: Can Pueblo offer seven consecutive nights of live music? Since there are many regular weekly events Tuesday through Saturday, seven days would be trivial - except that every week has a Sunday and a Monday. Serendipitously, I was being asked to record Sonic Vomit during a thrash show at Phil's on a Monday preceding a regular (fourth) Sunday Jazz show at the Riverside. I accepted the challenge. |
Punks Are Still Going Strong

Gunning for Hometown Love: Twin Guns at Phil's Radiator
Something rattles inside you and it's jarring to think that everyone else can hear it too. It's an ethereal reverberation - does leather have a sound? - that fills the room so that all inward breath is rock and roll. From their current New York City home to Pueblo, Twin Guns is ready to shoot psychedelic echoes and reverb in a spooky path around the chambers of your heart.

Tuesday, September 13th, I had the privilege of seeing one of the better punk shows in recent memory. Phil's is always good for showcasing some of the more talented punks on the Front Range. It started with the band Generation Dead, comprised of D.J. Asch (guitar), Tim Brown (bass/vocals), Justus Christ (drums), and Bundy (vocals).
It's sweater weather! You can mosh out or stand in the corner listening to great local music in the comfort of your favorite hoodie, sweater, or vest. I've been attached to my hoodie for 15 years. I've tried to buy a new one after I sewed the sleeves of my trusty black garment so many times that the needle was making the holes larger, but I haven't found one that fits just so. When I catch a live show in my hoodie, it's like sharing the night with a good friend. You may not be as nostalgic as I am, but here are some places and people you might want to meet with your favorite climate control garb.
